It was a perfect day for a festival in Sylva, sunny but not too hot with a breeze that ruffled our tents. One report says over 10,000 people attended this year. The candidates were out meeting and greeting. The JCDP was well-represented. The Democratic Women’s tent featured information about the elections and candidates; shirts, buttons and bumper stickers for sale; and a corn hole toss for the children, who won an American flag for their efforts. We also had an Earth Day tent where children could draw pictures, which were then put on display and earned them an entree in a book drawing. The Party also helped out with voter registration in the NAACP tent. The set-up and dismantling was handled by JCDP Men with great efficiency. We all had a great time and decided that next year we need more space!
