A caravan of Jackson Dems traveled to Mars Hill for the Liston B. Ramsey Spring Gala on April 9th. The crowd of Western Carolina Democrats was large enough to require additional tables. The guests were treated to rousing speeches from NC Attorney General and candidate for Governor, Roy Cooper, candidate for Treasurer, Dan Blue III and others.
Each of the 17 counties represented in Carolina’s 11 Congressional district honored a local Democrat for their loyalty and service with the Liston B. Ramsey award. Jackson County Chair, Frank Burrell, presented the 2016 award to Brian McMahan with the following words:
It is a great pleasure for me to nominate Brian McMahan as the recipient of the Liston B. Ramsey Award for Jackson County. Brian has exerted extraordinary leadership during his current and previous stints as Chairman of the County Commissioners. We truly expect that his is a beginning spot for Brian and he will continue in his endeavors to run for higher posts in the political arena. Our thanks and congratulations for a job well done.
