The Jackson County Democratic Party monthly meeting for November, 2017, will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 6:30pm at Democratic Headquarters on Mill St. in Sylva.  Note that this is the second Tuesday of the month, moved forward to avoid the Thanksgiving week.

This meeting will feature a special guest, Dr. Scott Donaldson, who has announced his candidacy for the Democratic nominee to run for U.S. Congress from NC-11.  Some info from his website:

“Dr Donaldson has been a Urological Surgeon in Hendersonville since 2002. Prior to that he worked in Burlington NC, Raleigh, New Orleans and New Zealand.  These experiences have introduced him to a vast array of medical climates, personalities, and opportunities to serve. Each of these settings have had a lasting impact on how and why health and wellness mean so much to him.”

We urge all people interested in getting to know the candidates to attend the meeting where you will have a chance meet and interact with the candidate.

At the September meeting we enjoyed a visit from Phillip Price, the other announced candidate to run on the Democratic ticket for the congressional seat.  Mr. Price is a small businessman (and great musician!) currently from McDowell County, although he has strong ties to Jackson County, having studied at WCU and married a Jackson County woman.  Mr. Price is a strong environmentalist who believes all Americans should have access to affordable health care and education.  He is also a proponent of expanding good job opportunities in Western North Carolina through the expansion of technical infrastructure.  Check out his website here.
