While the COVID-19 pandemic has put in doubt whether sports, including college football, will be played this fall, Western Carolina’s scheduled season-opener has been moved up two days.
The Catamounts are now slated to play at Eastern Kentucky at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3. The game was originally set for Saturday, Sept. 5.
However, the Kentucky Derby, which is typically held the first Saturday in May, was moved to Sept. 5 because of the pandemic.
