If you haven't been to a DWJC meeting, you are missing a lot! This week, we heard from three candidates, Sally Jennings Hudson, Cody Lewis, and Adam Trebrugge.

We discussed exciting upcoming events and opportunities to get involved, while celebrating DWJC special birthdays, including our Co-President's.

We are compatriots, friendly, and a motivated group of women (and men)! We would LOVE to have you join us to turn our county blue this November!

Please give this post by AWAKE a read. Their work is essential to the children of Jackson County.Hi everyone,
As some of you may know, AWAKE and the other children’s advocacy centers like us are largely funded by the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA). VOCA enables us to provide crucial services in both Jackson and Swain Counties. Federal funding for VOCA has been cut by 40%. VOCA is slated to take another 40% cut in North Carolina for grants starting in October 2025.

In response, a number of congressmen in the House of Representatives have introduced a new bill, the Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act. This bill would help to secure funding for VOCA in the years to come.
We desperately need this bill to be approved. We are asking anyone and everyone who can to contact your US Representative and make it clear that you support this bill. US Representatives are available for contact via phone or email.
Below, we’ve attached a photo of a script you can use when you contact your Representative. We believe that our voices matter in continuing to protect the lives of children nationwide. Thank you, all, for your continued support!
