Jamie Ager Visits Jackson County

July 24, 2026

Jackson County voters gather to meet congressional candidate Jamie Ager during his visit to the community.

Jamie Ager, candidate for North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District, spent time in Jackson County on August 24, meeting with voters and talking about his campaign for Congress.

Earlier in the day, Jamie stopped by Jackson County Democratic Headquarters to visit with our volunteers. He even showed his support for another Jackson County candidate, sporting a Re-Elect Kim Coggins Poteet for Jackson County Clerk of Court hat!

That afternoon, about 40 people gathered at the Savannah Community Building for a chance to meet Jamie, hear from him and ask questions about the issues important to Jackson County and Western North Carolina. It was a great turnout and an opportunity for local voters to connect directly with the candidate.

Our headquarters is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday through Election Day. Stop by to meet our volunteers, learn more about local candidates and upcoming elections or find out how you can get involved.

Cody Lewis shared some of the long history of the Democratic Party in Jackson County, and we heard from local candidates and elected officials, including Kim Coggins Poteet, Jackson County Clerk of Superior Court; Sean Bridgers, District 2 Commissioner; Casey Walawender, District 1 Commissioner; and Marcia Almond, Chair of the Jackson County Board of Commissioners.

We also had a little fun recognizing the longest-standing and newest Democrats in attendance, with gift cards for the winners.

A special thanks to all of the amazing volunteers who helped make the celebration possible, from setting up and decorating to bringing food, providing the beautiful hydrangea blooms and cleaning up afterward. We couldn’t have done it without you!

It was a great afternoon celebrating 175 years of Jackson County Democrats and looking ahead to the 2026 election!
